Allow me to say a few words about the farms where you can enjoy picking fresh strawberries:


🍓Downey's Strawberry and Apple Farm: Located in Caledon, this farm boasts extensive fields full of ripe strawberries. They offer 2-liter baskets for $14, 4-liter baskets for $28, or a 6-liter basket for the genuinely ambitious for $42. The farm operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and tractor and wagon rides are available. The pick-your-own strawberry season begins on June 17th.

🍓Barrie Hill Farms: This second-generation family farm located in Springwater (just over a two-hour drive from Toronto) charges an $8 "promise to pick" fee per person (ages 6 to 96). This fee is then deducted from the total harvest cost, which ranges from $7 to $36, depending on size. Bring your basket and enjoy strawberry picking with the whole family! Their season starts on June 13th.

🍓Organics Farm: This health-conscious farm in Markham offers organic strawberries. The entrance fee is $15 per person, which includes a 2-liter basket for hand-picking strawberries. Additionally, this year, they are selling their strawberry ice cream! The farm operates weekdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on weekends from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Remember, timing is everything when it comes to strawberry picking, as the season on most farms lasts from mid-June to early July. So grab your basket and enjoy a sweet adventure!

What do you think about organic products? Do you believe these products are grown without chemical fertilizers on "clean" land?
